The Origin of 14 Mukhi Rudraksha

According to the Shiv Mahapurana, the 14 Mukhi Rudraksha is believed to have emerged from the Chandranetra, the Moon's eye of Lord Shiva (left side eye). It is also believed that Rudraksha has the blessings of Lord Hanuman, as Lord Shiva took birth as Hanuman to help Lord Ram in his search for his wife Sita Mata.
The tree that produces it, Elaeocarpus genitus, grows across the Himalayan belt and parts of Southeast Asia.

The three main sources for Rudraksha beads are Nepal, India, and Indonesia. In India, we can get Rudraksha from Uttarakhand, Assam and nearby Himalayan regions, while Indonesian beads from Java and Bali are naturally smaller, lighter, and smoother in appearance.

The Sacred Number 14: Shiva, Hanuman Aur Chaturdasha Lokas

Chaturdasha Lokas: The vedic scriptures describe fourteen lokas (worlds) that created this whole existence: Satya, Tapa, Jana, Mahar, Svar, Bhuvar and Bhur Lokas (Higher Realms) and Atala, Vitala, Sutala, Talatala, Mahatala, Rasatala and Patala Lokas (Lower Realms) as we know these lokas are the different levels of consciousness, then this Rudraksha is associated with the Ajna Chakra which can helps a wearer to go beyond these lower consciousness or lokas and helps people to protect themselves and make correct judgement in all their actions.

How to Wear 14 Mukhi Rudraksha

Step 1: Firstly, sprinkle some Gangajal on your body.

Step 2: If you are at home, then place the Rudraksha in front of Lord Shiva's picture or otherwise in a plate facing towards Shiva's Side.

Step 3: Worship the Rudraksha with Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra; also offer dhoop, fruits and flowers to Lord Shiva.

Difference Between Nepali and Indonesian 14 Mukhi Rudraksha

Nepal is Shiva's own land. Pashupatinath, the most ancient living temple of Shiva, has stood in Kathmandu for thousands of years without interruption.

The 14 Mukhi Rudraksha, often called Deva Mani, is associated with Lord Shiva and Lord Hanuman; it represents courage guided by intuition, strength, wisdom,m and action guided by clarity. The land where this bead grows and the qualities it represents are not separate.

14 Mukhi Rudraksha: Dos and Don'ts

The Shiva Mahapurana and the Shrimad Devi Bhagavatam are the two primary sources for Rudraksha wearing rules, and these are very important aspects for Rudraksha Dharan.

• Chant ॐ नमः शिवाय or ॐ नमः before wearing every day
• Never wear without the mantra
• Wear on the right arm or wrist as prescribed
• Do not share with anyone
• Keep it in direct contact with the skin
• Do not expose to soap, shampoo, or chemical perfumes
• Apply sesame or sandalwood oil lightly once a month
• Do not wear a bead that has cracked naturally
• Place in the puja ghar when not wearing
• Do not leave carelessly in bags or drawers
• Replace the thread every six months
• Avoid tamasic food
• Perform abhishek on Skanda Shashti, Pradosh, and Maha Shivaratri
• Do not wear over-thick fabric away from the skin
