Sacred Bhasma from Kashi Vishwanath Temple [FREE]
Description
There is a reason devotees carry bhasma home from Kashi. It is not just ash. In Sanskrit, the word bhasma means "that by which sins are destroyed and the lord is remembered." When you apply it on your forehead as three horizontal lines, you are wearing what the scriptures call Tripundra, the mark of Shiva himself.
This Bhasma is from the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi. It is the same Bhasma used in the Bhasma Aarti of Baba Vishwanath, one of the oldest and most sacred rituals performed at the temple. The same Bhasma that touches the Jyotirlinga of Vishwanath now reaches your home, for your daily puja and tilak.
Kashi is the city Shiva chose to never leave. The Skanda Purana calls it Avimukta Kshetra, the place Shiva never abandoned. Even during pralaya, when the entire universe is destroyed, Shiva is said to hold Kashi above the waters on his trishul. The Bhasma from this city is not ordinary vibhuti you pick up from a shop shelf. It carries the weight of the oldest living city on earth, the city where Mahadev still walks.
