The Char Mukhi Rudraksha originates from the seeds of Elaeocarpus ganitrus with four natural lines starting from the head to the tail of the bead. Generally, it's found in Nepal (rare, authentically effective, and most popularly worn), India, and Indonesia (where nearly 70% of the total global production is made). Brahma's (the creator of this universe) bead is prominently mentioned in Hindu scriptures such as the Shiva Purana, the Padma Purana, and the Rudraksha-jabal-upanishad.

Talking about its origin, there are two size variants for the Nepal origin Char Mukhi Rudraksha: standard (17-21 mm) and Pali XLC (22-26 mm). The Story of Char Mukhi Rudraksha in Hinduism

Nepal vs Indonesia: The Origin, Quality, and Other Specifications of Char Mukhi Rudraksha

The Nepali Rudraksha is different from the Indonesian Rudraksha in terms of its quality, colour, texture, width, shape, weight, and so on. It’s also considered that wearing the Nepali Char Mukhi Rudraksha yields a faster result than the Indonesian Rudraksha.

Nepali and Indonesian Char Mukhi Rudraksha differ notably despite sharing the same four-faced form. Nepali beads are generally larger, standard 17–21mm and often 18mm+, with a heavier, denser structure, while Indonesian beads average just 5mm and rarely exceed 25mm, making them lighter and easier for daily wear. Nepali beads tend toward a nearly round, symmetrical shape with a rough, deeply textured surface where mukhi lines are clearly visible and countable by eye; Indonesian beads are slimmer, sometimes slightly irregular, with smoother surfaces and finer lines that may need magnification to count. Colour also varies- Nepali beads carry a darker, richer brown, while Indonesian beads appear lighter and smoother. Nepali beads naturally form a hole at the poles, unlike most Indian Rudraksha, and their denser structure lends greater durability.
