According to the Shiv Mahapurana, the 12 Mukhi Rudraksha is believed to have emerged from the Surya Netra, the Sun eye of Lord Shiva (right-side eye). The tree that produces it, Elaeocarpus genitus, grows across the Himalayan belt and parts of Southeast Asia.
